T is for Trust. Trust God and He will see you through any and all situations in your life. When we doubt ourselves, we are doubting Him/Her. Trust His Good Orderly Direction, it is there for the asking.

T is for Take

Tale time to smell the roses, as the old saying goes. What I mean is that there is so much in life to be grateful for if we only stop and notice them. Your sobriety, a sunset, a sunrise, a smile from someone, the cup of coffee you are drinking right now, friends, loved ones, the computer, house, food, clothes, job, music, .... the list can go on and on. Stop and smell the roses...smile and be grateful!

T is for Topic. In early recovery, I had to stay away from speaker meetings because I compared instead of identifying. I found myself saying, "I didn't do that, maybe I am not an alcoholic." I went to lots and lots of topic discussion meetings. You can close your mind to one person talking, but when you hear several people sharing, there is bound to be something that will sink in. I found myself in the rooms of recovery by listening to other people share their experience, strength, and hope.

T is for Trust. You can't have a relationship without it. Build a relationship with your God, your sponsor, your group members, your family and friends. But most of all, build a relationship with yourself.

Trust God and clean house.

T is for Treasures. Many of us have things as a result of being clean and sober. What we treasure the most is our sobriety. Sobriety means soundness of mind, and as they say, "...with this we are well on our way."

T is for Task. Take yourself to task to see if you have skimmed over some of the Steps. Have you been truly honest with yourself? Have you been open with your sponsor? Recovery works if you work for it. We are only as sick as our secrets. They will keep us in our disease and give it an outlet to go back out and use.

T is for Telephone. The telephone is a recovery tool. Get telephone numbers from other members and call them, in the good times and in the not so good times.

Giving a call to someone can help them as much as you. If someone comes to mind, I try to make an effort to connect with the person. Above all else, I say a prayer for them.

T is for Talent. We each are given a talent. We compare instead of identify, and think our talent isn't worthy. We must remember it is God given just for you to share with others. What is good for one, is good for two.

T is for Try. All we are asked to do is try our best. There is no scale to judge, no specific rules and things you have to measure up to. All we are asked to do is try to work the principles of the program into your life. Don't pick up no matter what. That is difficult at times, but we don't have to do it alone. Get a home group, get phone numbers. Get a sponsor. We can do what I can't do alone.

T is for Take Time to Sleep. Sometimes when we come into recovery and we have trouble sleeping. it is important to try to lie down and rest your body even when you don't feel like you can sleep. Try to quiet your mind. i was told to put each thought in a paper BAG AND TIE IT UP AND YOU HAVE THE OPTION NEXT MORNING IF YOU WANTED TO PICK IT UP AGAIN, OR LEAVE IT ALL BAGGED UP.
