An NA sponsor encourages us to read the the literature of Narcotics Anonymous and to engage in NA activities and service work.

As important as meetings are, Narcotics Anonymous is more than just meetings. Working the program also means using the Twelve Steps, reading the Basic Text and the literature, changing our attitudes and behavior, doing service work, and carrying the message of recovery to other addicts inside and outside the Fellowship. A sponsor can encourage us to do all these things and remind us to use the various tools of our recovery program.
A sponsor must always remember that we can only keep what we have by giving it away. Goodwill is best exemplified in service and proper service is "Doing the right thing for the right reason." When this supports and motivates both the individual and the Fellowship, we are fully whole and wholly free."

It is so important to have that extra support during the holiday. A sponsor helps you and you help a sponsor.

If you don't have one, even a temporary one is good until you find one that you feel comfortable with and one that you can identify with. Find someone who has what you want. Find someone who is walking their talk and follow them on the road to recovery.

Just for today, I choose not to use. I don't have to travel this journey alone.
