E is for Enjoy. Enjoy the holiday. You can enjoy yourself without being drunk. There are natural highs in recovery.

E is for Expectations. We need to lower them so that they are attainable. When they are so high, we are left disappointed, feeling like failures, and feeling less than. We tend to projected them onto others even when we have trouble fulfilling them ourselves.

E is for Each day is a new beginning. Each day is a new 24 hours. Each day is an opportunity to practice the principles of the program and to try to be the best me I can be in today. Each day brings me a little closer to my God, and for that I will be eternally grateful.

E is for Easy Does It...but do it! We can ease into doing something, yet the key is to do it. We can rush into doing it, but then we can miss out on the experience if we do it too fast. Easy does it says, enjoy the experience and get the most of life.

E is for Elephant. They say Elephants never forget. I don't want to ever forget where I come from. I don't ever want to forget that it is the engine not the caboose that kills.

E is for Everything. When I asked what I had to give up, I was told "Everything." All mind altering substances. The substance is but a symptom of my dis-ease. One will take me to another, each one eats at my soul and blocks me from the God of my understanding.
