G is for Goodness. Look for the goodness in someone. It might not be glaringly apparent, but if you look, you will find. Look for the Goodness within yourself. God is Good. Good is God.

We are worthy of recovery. We are not our disease. When we pick up a drug of any kind or any mood altering drug, we are gone, the drug takes us to places we would never go or thought we would never go. It often took us to places we liked, only to pay the price for having gone there.

Sometimes the places were good, but we overstayed our welcome. Life is about balance. There are energies that are good for us in today, which might not be good for us on another day.

G is for Gratitude. Put it in your attitude. My sponsor told me many years ago, "A grateful alcoholic/addict will never have a reason to pick up. They may find lots of excuses, but they won't have a reason, if they remain grateful."

I was told to make a list of 5 things to be grateful for each night. The greatest gift of any day is to be sober at the end of the day.

G is for Go. When you don't feel like going to a meeting, don't walk run!

When you have troubles and they seem overwhelming and you are full of grief, let go and let God. He can, I can't, just for today, I go to Him in prayer.

G is for Glory. Give your God the Glory. It is through Him, that all things are possible. It doesn't matter, who you understand God to be, as long as it isn't you.

G is for Grief. Grief is a big part of recovery. We have lost our best friend, who became our worst enemy. We have a void and an emptiness that needs filling, and we want to fill it up with quick fixes and often goodies that aren't good for us. We need to recognize where we are at, and trust the process.

G is for Grace. But for the Grace of God, I wouldn't be here today. So glad He brought me to AA and kept me here.
