H is for Honest. Be honest if you can, especially with yourself. If you can't be honest with you, who can you be honest with? Self-honesty was difficult for me, I had to get by all the old tapes and the lies I believed about myself.

Cash register honesty is good, but it won't help me to recover if I don't acknowledge the fact that I stole a little something along the way, even if it was time, it adds up to money.

H is for Hope. We can wish our life away, but the program offered me hope that I could have a life. The first promise said, "We will know a new freedom and a new happiness." That was enough for me, and yet I got the benefits of all 12 of the promises and so much more. As they say, "Bring the body and the mind will follow. Don't leave until the miracle happens." All these sayings gave me hope, I saw others and hoped that the program would work for me too.

H is Humble. Humble doesn't mean humility. It isn't humiliating to admit you don't know. You can't know what you have never been taught. You are not your disease. Be open to learning, become teachable.

H is for Hugs. They say we need 8 hugs a day. I was told, be my own best friend, and give myself a hug.

H is for Hello. Some people are alone, make a point to say hello to someone who can use a smile, a hug, or a moment of your time.
