E is for Each day is a new beginning. It is the first day of the rest of my life. When I go to a meeting, I try to envision myself as a newcomer, remembering that sobriety is quality, not quantity.

Each day I turn over to my God and has for the Good Orderly Direction I need in today.

E is for Endings. i don't have to be defined by things I have done in the past. I can make my future a better place.

E is for Easy does it but Do it.

E is for EGO - Easing God Out

E is for Everything. What do I need to change? Everything that stands between me and who my God would have me be in today.

E is for Expectations. Lower them so they are attainable. Replace them with acceptance, and it won't matter if you fall short of your own goal. You are where you are meant to be in today. Don't put expectations on people who are not capable of meeting them.

E is for Energy. Feed your body and you mind and soul. Take care of yourself physically. Mentally, maintain a spiritual condition.

E is for Emotions. You need to feel them before you can let them go. In order to feel them, you need to acknowledge them and share them.

E is for Evidence. By the evidence, our God is very good to us. Even the worst day in recovery, far surpasses the best day when I was using.

E - Eleventh Step Prayer

Higher Power, as I understand you, I pray to keep my connection with You open and clear from the confusion of daily life. Through my prayers and meditation I ask especially for freedom from self-will, rationalization and wishful thinking. I pray for the guidance of correct thought and positive action. Your will, Higher Power, not mine be done.

E is for Easy Does It...But Do It! It is important to work the Steps and do the do things in recovery, yet we mustn't forget that we didn't get this way over night and we don't get better over night. This program isn't a quick fix. Each day is a new beginning, of the rest of our life.

E is for Enjoying life. We absolutely insist on enjoying life...See pages 132-133 in the Big Book.

E is for Encouragement. We can be there for others and encourage them on their journey. Sometimes we need that encouragement, that shoulder to lean on, that hand to lead us. God puts Earth Angels, to help us along the way.

Did you hear about the 83 year old woman who talked herself out of a speeding ticket by telling the young officer that she had to get there before she forgot where she was going?


Makes perfectly good sense to me...

We'll be FRIENDS until we are old and senile.


Then we'll be NEW FRIEND'S.

E is for Effort. If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are halfway through. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. (from The Promises, pages 83-84 in the Big Book)

E is for Encouragement. It is important to have a support system. It is even more important to encourage others in their recovery. Share your experience, strength, and hope with them.
