L is for Listen to learn, Learn to listen. Selective hearing is a character defect of most people, not just alcoholics. How can we know what we have never been taught? I have to be willing to do what ever it takes in order to recover. I had to learn a new way of living without drugs and alcohol. One of the first lessons was, "Alcohol is a drug."

L is for Love. Love of self and others. I not only had to love myself, but like myself too. When I come from a place of love, I don't have to make so many amends. Amends means change, so if I change my attitude to love, will recover from that hopeless state of mind and body, prior to recovery.

L is for Love. If you come from a place of Love, you can't go too far wrong, unless it is all for the love of Self with no thought of anyone else.

L is for Live and Let Live. Live my life and allow others to live theirs. I spent so many years living my life through others and in the end, there was no me and I had to look for who I was in today.

L is for Less. I love the motto, "Less is more." Less of the "I" and more of the "We" and less attitude and more gratitude. Less doesn't mean loss, it means balance in our lives.

L is for Leap of Faith. Take a leap of faith, get with the program. Let go of your fears and walk in faith, knowing that the God of your understanding will catch you if you fall.

L is for Lapse. We can have a lapse in judgment. We can have a lapse of memory. As long as we don't have a relapse and go back to using, life will continue to get better.
I don't want to go back there, so I know I have to be vigilant in my recovery and continue to do the do things in order to maintain my recovery, one day at at time.
