What's Missing

We usually have much concern about the things that have happened to us, or the things that we have done that led up to us beginning recovery. These are our reasons for it. What we don't know and we'll find as we go along is it's what is missing that's hurting us the most. This is what makes it so hard to get help because whenever it's pointed out and we realize there's something missing our reaction is usually one of shame. Then pride is activated causing us to be dishonest. Had we been given what's missing we would have never experienced any of this. We can't go back and change that, but we can follow this simple program of recovery and we'll get what was given so freely to so many others. And the high price we all paid to get it is what makes it so very valuable to us.
