The Lord Alone Did Lead Them

The Lord Alone Did Lead Them

"Like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, then spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions, so the Lord alone did lead them..." Deut. 32:11, 12

The other day I was fascinated by a mother bird who was teaching her young to fly. She flew along side of them but as they began to lose altitude she would swoop below them and the air pressure would force them back up, so they could try again. I watched for quite some time as this mother bird patiently taught her babies to fly, and watched this ritual go on and on. The mother eagle does this also, but she is known to do something very unique in the bird world, something that other birds do not do. She will actually catch her young on her wings when they become weary and she will carry them. What a beautiful picture this is of what God does for us. He longs for us to fly, learning the lessons He has for us to learn, and He will do everything in His power to teach us to do that, but when we become bone weary, He will catch us and will do the flying for us. He will carry us through. The Lord did this with the Israelites of old when He led them in the wilderness and He is doing it with us today. Let us go forth this day knowing that our Father, like the mother eagle, will be right there with us every hour of the day and when we grow too weary to go on, will swoop down to catch us on His wings and see us through.

Father, teach me to fly. I wish to soar to new heights as the eagle, to see life from Your vantage point. How grateful I am that You are like the mother eagle! You know when I become weary and then You carry me on Your wings. I am grateful for Your loving kindness and care. As You strengthen me with Your love, may I rise to new heights and may all the glory be Yours. Amen
