U is for Utilize, don't Criticize. We need to keep and open mind and it is good to get positive feedback or experience, strength, and hope from our fellow recovery members. We may not like it, but we can put it to good use. I was told that I could learn two things in recovery. How to work my program and how NOT to work my recovery.

U is for the Unknown. So often we fear it because we base our tomorrows on our yesterdays. When we move into the future with our God, we will know when the time is right. If we apply the program to our life, we can take it one step at a time. Sometimes we have to go back to Step Three and ask for the willingness to work the rest of the Steps. We can't know what we have never been taught.

U is for Unity. We all stand together. Without you, there is no me. One person doesn't dictate what is to be said and done, we all join in together. We all have different gifts to bring to the table. We work as One.

U is for the Unknown. How can we know what we have never been taught or experienced? That is why it is important to reach out and ask for help.

our friends may be unknown, but no one knows an addict better than another addict.

U is for Understand. no one understands an alcoholic/addict than another alcoholic/addict. many people like to separate the two, but if we are getting honest, in order to recover, alcohol is a drug. I used alcohol like I did with men, pills, relationships, food, my bed, my computer, my work, etc.

you also qualify for Al-Anon and Nar-Anon because you know me.

U is for Untold. There are many untold stories that we have never shared and internalized them thinking we were the only ones, only to go to a meeting and here them from the lips of others. We are only as sick as our secrets. I will share those hidden storehouse of memories and allow myself to heal.

U is for Use. Don't use mind altering substances, stay connected to the God of your understanding. Learn to utilize other things, that are healthy for the body, mind, and spirit.

Hugs not Drugs

U is for Useful. Make yourself useful at your group. Getting involved in service is a good way to strengthen your recovery. Don't ask what the group can do for you but what can you do for the group. The best way to get out of Self and the great I am, is to help someone else
