Victory Over Temptation

VICTORY OVER TEMPTATION

Everyone in this world has been tempted one way or another. Temptation comes in many forms. It could be as small as being tempted to eat a piece of cake when we don't need to. It could be as big as stealing or cheating or even worse. Despite the temptations we have, it is possible to have victory over them when we put our focus on God. Just as Jesus denied Satan when He was being tempted, so can we.

1 Corinthians 10:13 "The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure." (NLT)

Dear Lord, we want to know Your peace rather than seek worldly things to temporarily feel good. We want to follow You and lean on You when we are tempted. We know You hold the answer and the way out so we can resist temptations. Help us to first recognize worldly temptations for what they truly are and to turn away from them so we can better live for You and grow spiritually as You have called us to. Thank You for being faithful to us to lean on You when we are tempted. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God can help us resist temptations and show us a way out.

Just as Jesus denied Satan when He was being tempted, so can we.

Just as Jesus used Scripture to rebuke the devil, so can we.

Matthew 4:7 "Jesus responded, 'The Scriptures also say, 'You must not test the LORD your God.'" (NLT)

We should pray for strength from God to help us not to give in to temptation.

Matthew 26:41 "Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!" (NLT)

Focus: We should focus more on God and allow His Holy Spirit to help us resist temptations.
