When We Are Stressed
 

WHEN WE ARE STRESSED

When we are stressed, we seem to be overwhelmed the most. The things going on in our lives seem unbearable. We can’t think straight so we choose not to think at all. We can’t be happy so we choose to be miserable and lash out at others. We can’t feel joy because we want to dwell on what is wrong rather than thinking about what is right. When we are overwhelmed with stress, we need God. He can remove the overwhelm and give us peace.

Psalm 55:2 “Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we are sometimes so overwhelmed with the stress from this world that we forget about You. We get bogged down with problems and let people control us rather than focusing on You. Help us today to remember not to stress but to pray. Help us today to remember not to get overwhelmed but to come to You for direction and peace. Thank You for always being here for us, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we are stressed and can’t think straight, we can choose God who will do the thinking for us.

When we are stressed and miserable, we can choose to look to God’s word for help.

When we are stressed and want to lash out at others, we can choose God who can keep us calm.

When we are stressed and want to dwell on what is wrong, we can choose to focus on God who will show us what is right.

When we are stressed, we can give our burdens to the Lord and He will take care of us.

Psalm 55:22 “Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” (NLT)

Focus: Don’t let stress control you. Let it go and let God take control of your life.
