Chocolate Drop Cookies
 
From Monarch Cook Book

Preheat oven to 350 deg. F
Lightly grease a baking sheet (I used parchment paper)

Sift together

1 1/4 cups Monarch Cake and Pastry Flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cocoa

Cream together:
2/3 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups lightly packed brown sugar
I only had 2/3 cup approx. of brown sugar and used white for the balance)
1 teaspoon of Vanilla

Beat in:
1 egg

Beat until light and fluffy.

Stir in dry ingredients alternating with
1/3 cup buttermilk or sour milk
I added about a 1/2 tsp. of vinegar to milk

Fold in

1/2 cup of walnuts

I omitted these, don't like them and they were good without. Mini bites of chocolate cake. You could have iced them if you wanted to fancy them up. We just ate them warm off the cooling rack. It is suppose to make 4 dozen, I lost track. There is a dozen left for my son to take for his lunch tomorrow if I don't get into them.

Drop batter from a teaspoon about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Bake in preheated 350 deg. oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

I think this is an old cook book, everything is written out in full like I have typed it.

The cookies are long gone. I got it from the internet, but where I don't remember. Sorry. I don't have a cell phone so not much into pictures. I am far behind the time. My son wonder at the fact that I can use a computer and have trouble navigating a phone. ;)
