August 1

Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. Isaiah 55:6

Acts 4:21-22 (NIV) All the people were praising God for what had happened. For the man (crippled from birth) who was miraculously healed was over forty years old.

Thought: Believe God for big things.

Today’s Scripture: I Peter 2:17 (NLT): Show respect for everyone. Love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God. Show respect for the king.

Today’s Thought: Respect & love are very important. When someone looks at your life, what will they say? You are full of love or hate? If hate, you can start over today.

Today’s Prayer: Lord, thank You for loving me. I ask that You help to me love & respect others. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!

August 3

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Psalm 68:19 (NIV) Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.

Thought: Heavy loads? Ya, He's up for that.

Today’s Scripture: I Peter 2:20 (NLT): Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing right and are patient beneath the blows, God is pleased with you.

Today’s Thought: In this life not everyone will respect you even though you respect them. This is so hard, but remember, God sees it all. It will be worth it all one day when you hear God say, “well done, My good and faithful Servant!”

Today’s Prayer: Lord, help me to show love & respect even when it is so hard to do so. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!

August 4

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. James 1:19

Acts 4:33 (ESV) And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.

Thought: God's going to open doors for you to tell others about Him.

Today’s Scripture: I Peter 2:21 (NLT): This suffering is all part of what God has called you to. Christ, who suffered for you, is your example. Follow in his steps.

Today’s Thought: We do not like to suffer. It goes against everything we’ve been taught. However, often the times we grow the most is in the times we are suffering the most. God is always right beside you and He will never allow more than you can handle.

Today’s Prayer: Lord, help me learn to trust You even more when I’m going through a rough time. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!

Thought: Loyalty is royalty. God wants you to be there for folks.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28

Thought: There's ALWAYS something you can do -- pray.

August 7

“God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives.” 1 Thessalonians 4:7

Thought: Where's God when bag things happen? Wiping the tears from your eyes.

Today’s Scripture: I Peter 2:24 (NLT): He personally carried away our sins in his own body on the cross so we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. You have been healed by his wounds!

Today’s Thought: Jesus cares about each one of us so much that He died for us. Mathew 10:30 says, “And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.” Wow! He cares about the BIG stuff, little stuff and everything in between.

Today’s Prayer: Lord, thank You for loving me even when I do not love myself. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!

August 8

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

2 Corinthians 1:21 (NLV)
God is the One Who makes our faith and your faith strong in Christ. He has set us apart for Himself.

Thought: Keep standing strong. God's standing with you.

Today’s Scripture: I Peter 2:25 (NLT): Once you were wandering like lost sheep. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.

Today’s Thought: Isn’t it wonderful to know that God guards our soul? This doesn’t mean we will not have trials. It does mean, however, that we have someone to lean on when life gets almost unbearable. He will never leave nor forsake you (see John 14:16) and will never put on you more then you can bear.

Today’s Prayer: Lord, thank You for guarding my soul & never leaving my. I pray that You help me put my full trust in You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!

August 9

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. Galatians 5:13

Thought: You'll never go wrong when you're doing God's work.

August 10

God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. ~ 2 Peter 1:3

1 Peter 3:15 (NIV) But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

Thought: You never know who needs to hear the Good News. Share it!

August 11

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. ~ James 5:16

Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. Proverbs 13:20

2 Timothy 1:3 (NIV) ...night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.

Thought: Whom has God laid on your heart?

August 12

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again - my Savior and my God! ~ Psalm 42:1

Stay away from fools, for you won't find knowledge on their lips. Proverbs 14:7

Thought: Leave of legacy of loving the Lord.

August 13

2 Timothy 1:6 (NKJV) Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you...

Thought: Your hands and heart are made to build God's kingdom.

August 14

The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense. Proverbs 27:9

2 Timothy 1:7 (MSG) God doesn't want us to be shy with His gifts, but bold and loving and sensible.

Thought: God's power is on your life to reach people for Him. Step out and stand up.

Today’s Scripture: I Peter 3:9 (NLT): Don't repay evil for evil. Don't retaliate when people say unkind things about you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God wants you to do, and he will bless you for it.

Today’s Thought: This is a hard lesson to learn but vital for all Christians to learn. Next time someone speaks ill about you, bless them. You do not want resentment to build up in your heart.

Today’s Prayer: Lord, help me bless those who curse me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!

August 15

Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8

Don't be fooled by those who say such things, for "bad company corrupts good character" 1 Corinthians 15:33
