Thought For Today - November

A Deal Not to Worry

We worry about family, health, work. If it's part of your life, you've probably worried about it at some point, but worrying just makes you anxious, and.... more worried.

So let's make a deal with ourselves, not to worry. Just for today. Then make the same deal tomorrow, and the next day, and the next....

Now make another deal with yourself, to think better and think your way to solutions.

Positive Impact

Imagine throwing a pebble into the Pacific Ocean, knowing that the ripples from that pebble will reach the shores of Japan. In the same way, imagine sending out one powerful thought into the world, knowing that the vibes from that thought can touch any person, any place. Thoughts can travel. They move at great speed and with considerable impact

Withdraw

Just as a tortoise is able to withdraw into it’s shell, at a moment’s notice, we too can withdraw our attention away from what’s happening around us. We can step back from our senses …and then step back again from our thoughts and emotions. Reconnect with the self, as a being. A being, separate from the doing.

Switch Off From Work

Do you find yourself ruminating about work in your free time?

To free your mind from work:
- Before leaving your workplace prioritise any unfinished tasks
for the next day.
- If you notice any work-related thoughts in your free time,
than either note it down or say to yourself, "Not now. I'll come
back to it tomorrow."

Learn to switch off from work when your workday finishes and you'll feel better for it. Enjoy your evening!

From Sorry to Story

When we're feeling sorry for ourselves, we need to ask, 'What story have I been telling myself?' Because the stories we tell ourselves shape how we feel & experience life.

1. Realize: feeling sorry for yourself does not make anything better.
2. Reframe & refine your story. Make it better, more meaningful without glossing over the facts.

Go from sorry to story & you'll empower yourself to tackle things better.

Smile And Say “Hello”

Through the day we meet many people. All are significant and they all deserve our attention and care. Even if all I do is smile and say "hello".

Life is like a Pendulum

In our quest to seek balance, like a pendulum, we sometimes swing from one side to the other. Sometimes we swing wildly and maybe that’s because we must explore both extremes and all points in between. If we don’t, there’s the possibility that we may get drawn to what’s not been examined. The still center, which we crave, is the result of visiting all possibilities.

Filtering Criticism

Do you get defensive when being criticized? Get defensive and you stop yourself from taking useful suggestions from the criticism.

The next time criticism comes your way, try this: get your focus away from the negative tone of the criticism and focus on deep breathing. Breathe away any heightened emotion and watch your defensiveness fade away.

Now think about the criticism and keep the useful bits and filter out the rest.

Click The Moment

Click! When you’re busy taking photos and videos, capturing life’s moments, are you actually experiencing them?

Live through your eyes or a screen, you can’t do both!

Maybe we can all strike a better balance between clicking and living life’s moments.

Controlling the Uncontrollable

Try to control the uncontrollable, & you end up feeling more frustrated & stressed. Realize: There are aspects that you can control, & there will always be aspects that you can't control.

Let go of what you can't control. And focus on what you can control. Then you'll reduce your stress & increase your response skills.

Giving Others Hope

One of the ways through which you can give others hope, is to Have Only Positive Expectations of them.

When you see beyond their shortcomings, and only see their strengths and potential, your vision of hope allows them to discover and use their strengths and potential.

Change Your Face

Whatever's going on in our heads is reflected on our face. That means, we wear our thoughts on our face!

Look in the mirror and notice the changing expressions on your face as you think about something happy, sad, stressful, funny, embarrassing....

To reflect what you want on your face, change whatever's going on in your head. Change your thoughts and you change your face.
