His Work In Us

His Work In Us

"Oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust Him." Ephesians 1:19 The Message

God loves us just the way we are, but he refuses to leave us that way. His love for us is not dependent on what kind of person we are or how much we change and mature. His love is unconditional. He is our Father and He loves us like a Father. He loved us when we were filthy, but He didn't leave us wallowing in the mire. He picked us up and placed the robe of Christ's righteousness on us. Unlike humans, who put all kinds of conditions on love, performance being a big one, God loved us while we were yet sinners. Yet God's love did not end at Calvary. His love for us extends even further, for He desires us to be like Jesus and so his work of utter extravagance began in our lives. He wants to change our hearts to be like that of His Son, Jesus. Now that is an utterly extravagant work, in fact, some might think it an impossible work. But for God nothing is impossible, for He is the God of the impossible. He can and will do the impossible in our lives if we trust Him. That is our part in all this, to trust God. We must submit to the hand of God and allow Him to work out this utter extravagance in our lives. Only when we trust Him will we allow Him to make the changes that He sees as necessary to our becoming like Jesus Christ. Let each of us take the time today to thank God for the utter extravagance that He is performing in our lives and continue to trust Him, that one day soon our hearts will be one with Jesus!

Father, thank You for loving us while we were yet sinners. Thank You for Your transforming work in our lives. I love the way Paul says it, "Oh, the utter extravagance of the work You are performing in our lives. It is beyond our comprehension." Thank You for that extravagance and for teaching me to trust You with all parts of my life. Amen
