Courage to Obey

COURAGE TO OBEY

It takes courage to be obedient especially when everyone else around us seems to be doing their own thing. It takes courage to be obedient when we are faced with temptations from the world. It takes courage to be obedient but that courage can be found in God. He tells us not to be afraid or discouraged but to be strong and courageous because He is going to take care of all our enemies and help us by holding our hands as we remain obedient to Him.

Joshua 10:25 ““Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged,” Joshua told his men. “Be strong and courageous, for the Lord is going to do this to all of your enemies.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know You give us rules to live by. You give us things we should do and should not do. We know You promise to take care of our enemies and to hold our hands as we obey You. Thank You, Lord, for Your promise, Your love and the courage and strength You give us to obey. We look forward to another day to be obedient to You no matter what temptations we may face. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We can draw courage from God when we are faced with temptations.

God will give us the help we need when we have struggles and trials in life.

When the world wants us to be disobedient to God, we can go to Him and His word to draw courage so we can trust and obey Him.

It takes courage to be obedient to God when others want us to do what is wrong.

God will give us the courage we need and hold our hands as we face uncertainty in our lives.

Isaiah 41:13 “For I hold you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.’” (NLT)

Obey is a word I never liked. I certainly didn`t make it part of my vocabulary unless it was directed at someone else.

I tended to see at it as an old tape. We are each individuals and what is right for someone, may not be good for someone else.

I could see the 10 Commandments, but so much of my abuse and thinking behind my addiction was based on old tapes, trying to please everyone and because I couldn`t do it, took it on as my fault and not measuring up. People told me what to believe and what to do, and they expected me to follow and obey, yet by doing so, I became ill. This mixed messages overwhelmed me and I didn`t know what to do and generally ended up doing nothing or setting out to prove everyone was wrong and I was right.

There is no right or wrong. It is what is good for me in today. I obey my God and His direction, as long as I am open to hearing and receiving. Because of mixed messages and abuse in the past, I get a thought and tend to discount it and not believe, and it has been a long process to get out of myself so my God can work through me and I can hear His Will for my life.
