Quote:
God's decree is the very pillar and basis on which the saint's
perseverance depends. That decree ties the knot of adoption
so fast, that neither sin, death, nor hell, can break it asunder.
~ Thomas Watson

John 1:12-13 ESV
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave
the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood
nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Your decree is the foundation of my faith and perseverance.
You have decreed. It stands fast and is eternal. Amen.

Quote:
I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything,
but still I can do something. And because I cannot do
everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.
~ Edward Everett Hale, author, (1822-1909) {submitted by Rev. Nancy}

Galatians 6:9
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season
we shall reap, if we faint not.

Prayer:
O God,
I may be powerless when I try to do everything. You only ask that
I do something. Prompt me to do the things I am meant to do and
help me to lay down that which I am not meant to do. Amen.

Quote:
To place ourselves in range of God's choicest gifts,
we have to walk with God, work with God, lean
on God, cling to God, come to have the sense
and feel of God, refer all things to God. ~ Cornelius Plantinga

John 15:10-11
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love;
even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and
abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you,
that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
My deepest desire is to walk with You, work with You,
lean on You and to cling to You as I keep Your commandments. Amen.

Quote:
Faith is to believe what you do not see;
The reward of this faith is to see what you believe.
~ Augustine {submitted by Rev. Nancy}

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,

Quote:
If you are going through a solitary way, read John 17,
it will explain exactly why you are where you are -
Jesus has prayed that you may be one with the Father
as He is. Are you helping God to answer that prayer,
or have you some other end for your life? Since you
became a disciple you cannot be as independent as
you used to be. Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest

John 17:2
"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in
me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us."

Prayer:
O Lord,
Once I became a believer, I can never again be alone
for You are within me and I am a part of You. You are
the vine and I am one of the branches continually deriving
my sustenance from You. Thank you Jesus. Amen.

Quote:
Heavenly Father,
Help me grow lovely inside as I grow older, remembering that growing
older brings me closer to You. Amen. {submitted by Rev. Nancy}

1 Peter 3:4 TLB
Be beautiful inside, in your hearts, with the lasting charm of a gentle
and quiet spirit which is so precious to God.

Quote:
Many will charge that dragging up the past is fruitless and wastes
time on things that are best forgotten...but emotional wounds are like
physical ones: They do not heal if they are neglected; they only
become infected and can become life damaging. The hurt must be
brought into the light and treated. ~ Albert Haase

Luke 4:18
He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to
the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them
that are bruised.

Prayer:
Dear Father,
Lead me to bring all my hurts to You that Your light shines brightly upon
them, casting out all darkness. And once these things are healed, help
me to put them behind me once and for all time. Amen.

Quote:
Watch constantly against those things which are thought to be no
temptations. The most poisonous serpents are found where the
sweetest flowers grow. ~ C. H. Spurgeon

Psalm 119:37 NIV
Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things,
and revive me in Your way.

Prayer:
O God,
Temptations appear sweet and pleasing yet they are like a serpent with
a poisonous bite. Help me to stand guard against all temptations and to
see them for what they really are. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Quote:
Heaven often seems distant and unknown, but if he who made the road
thither is our guide, we need not fear to lose the way. ~ Henry Van Dyke

Isaiah 55:12 NIV
You will go out in joy
And be led forth in peace;
The mountains and hills
Will burst into song before you.

Prayer:
Father God,
Thank you for making the road and being my guide Who safely leads me
onward. Thank you for leading me forth in peace. Amen.

Quote:
The tools of recovery are no good sitting in the toolbox.
Just like a lawn mower will not mow a lawn by itself,
I have to get them out and use them every day. ~ mbw

1 Thessalonians 5:21-24 NKJV
Test all things; hold fast what is good.
Abstain from every form of evil.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
You have blessed me with the tools of recovery.
Prompt me to take them up and use them each
day. Bring to mind those that I have left in the toolbox
too long that I employ them anew. In the name of
Jesus I pray. Amen.

pass through them we will be prisoners no matter on which side

Quote:
Instead of being losers, we are inescapable winners. Ours is a faith
for victory. Thus, if you are Christ's, stop talking about defeat. There
is a world to be conquered, and we are the people called to do it.
~ R. J. Rushdoony {all of his writings may be found at: http://chalcedon.edu}
