Works For Any One
 

While there may be only one requirement for us to be here in recovery, all of us do have the many things that go into qualifying us to be here. One of the ones that stands out the most for a lot of us is our dislike for anything that has to do with religion, because we despise religion so much and the idea of us belonging to one. What we all need to understand about recovery is that it uses many of the same principles that are found in most religions, and that while this is true that these principles are for anyone to live by, not just by those who belong to a religion. This is what most of us like about being in recovery is that we get a way to live by these principles without us having to belong to a religion. While some of us still do, most of us don't, and for those of us who don't the principles work just as well for us as they do for those who are part of a religion. It's not a requirement of recovery that any of us belong to a religion. While some of us find it helpful to belong to one, most of us are glad that it's not a requirement that we do have to belong to one because if it was we wouldn't be able to be in recovery. Recovery works for any one of us regardless if we're in a religion or not and that's what makes it so great for so many of us who can't see themselves as being part of some religion recovery still works for them just as well as it does for those who are.
