Today's Inspiring Thought: You Will Not Stumble

Almost 20 years ago, as I was preparing to leave for a four-year term on a foreign mission field, someone handed me a tract containing this Bible verse. At the top it said, "A Promise." The particular translation of Proverbs 4:12 read, "As thou goest, thy way shall be opened up step by step before thee." Believe it or not, I've kept this meaningful little leaflet tucked away all these years.

This Scripture was just the reassurance I needed at the time. Even though the way ahead was uncharted territory, I could trust that as I took each step the Lord would open up the way for me. I did not need to see far in front of me or around the sharp corners of the road ahead. I simply needed to start taking steps, maybe even baby steps at first. Eventually, I would break into a run, and the Lord would not let me stumble. He would be with me, removing the road blocks and opening up the path as I took each step of following him.
