All of us want a guarantee that if we all do the things that are suggested that we do as a means of being in recovery that most of us think are dumb and stupid for us to do, that things will get better for us, and most of us think like this when we're new to recovery. What all of us don't know is that recovery is more than just that, about being able to make things better for us, it's about giving all of us a way of being able to handle anything that life may throw our way. If we were to go out into the street today and tell anyone who we meet that we have a way of life for them where they'd be able to handle all that's going to happen to them in life and they'd still be able to find a way to be happy in spite of all this, most people would do anything to have that. But as soon as anyone finds out the things that they will need to do to have that, most of them won't want to do these things, at least not until things get so difficult for them that they're willing to do anything to make things better for themselves and that's where we all begin our recovery. When things get that way for all of us, and they always will, and it's our guarantee that they will, because they always do, and when they do if we don't die first, then all of us will be willing to do all those things that we all thought were so dumb and stupid for us to do.
