Make Time to Pray

Read Mark 1:1 through 3:35

According to the research of the Barna Group, prayer was the last priority among a dozen ministries rated by a group of pastors. Many believers pray when they need something from God, but comparatively few begin their day with prayer on a regular basis. So we, like the disciples, exclaim in surprise when someone puts aside other plans in order to pray.

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” (Mark 1:35–37).

If we take time to seek God at the beginning of the day, we will be prepared for whatever happens. Jesus did not wait for disaster or problems, He prayed before He faced the day. That’s an example we need to follow if we want the world to see us at our best each day.

Thought for Today: Prayer is always important.
