Control was a big awakening for me. I heard, if you have to control it, it is already out of control. Control is an illusion.
I had a motto, "Do it with style and grace. When I met my second husband's mother, we were at a dance, and I was tossing down rye and coke and smoking wine tipped cigarillos, and wondered why she thought I wasn't good enough for her son. His father was the village drunk, my father drank but he was the preacher's son and I was the preacher's son's daughter. The things we tell ourselves, denial and justification keeps us sick. I was one of the really sick ones when I came into recovery.
