Default We Have To Refuse

WE HAVE TO REFUSE

There are all types of temptations in the world. There are those temptations which cause us to be selfish. There are those which cause us to be prideful. There are those which cause us to be angry or bitter. The things of the world come at us every day. We have to decide to refuse them. We have to decide to turn away from them. We have to decide to refuse to walk on any evil path so we can remain obedient to God. Then, we can be the kind of person He has called us to be – one who is kind, loving and giving, and ready to help others with our words and actions.

Psalms 119:101 “I have refused to walk on any evil path, so that I may remain obedient to your word." (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know it is ultimately our decision about what we do and say. We know we have the option to follow You or to follow the things of the world. We know when we follow You, there will be good things that come from our obedience. And we know when we follow the things of the world, there will be terrible consequences. Help us to refuse the devil, to refuse giving in to temptation and to refuse any worldly thing that keeps us from doing Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we refuse to be selfish, we can better help others.

When we refuse to be prideful, we can be more appreciative for what we have.

When we refuse to be hateful, we can show love and kindness.

When we refuse the temptations of the devil, we can grow stronger in God’s word.

When we refuse the lies and sins of the world, we can show the truth by our actions.

1 John 3:18 “Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” (NLT)

Focus: We have the option to refuse the things of the world and God can give us the strength to do so when we focus on Him and study His word.
