Was told many years ago, be your own best friend. If you can't befriend yourself, how can you be a good friend to others.
I never had a best friend until I was 17. I was raised on a farm with no young people near me, and our father seldom drove us anywhere. Even my sisters were 3 and 4 years younger than me. No one close until I was 14 in Grade 9, and I talked to a girl after class, but couldn't go and do things with her because I had to take a bus home, about 13 miles. I never learn a lot of living and communication skills. That was a gift I received in recovery, by going to meetings.
Give yourself a hug!
