Welcome to Verse of the Day!

Today's Bible Verse: 2 Corinthians 8:7 But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace also. (ESV)

Today's Inspiring Thought: Excel in Grace

Just when I thought I was beginning to make some progress in my spiritual development, I came across this verse in the Bible. The Corinthians were excelling in faith, speech, knowledge, earnestness, love ... and acts of grace (referring to their generous giving)! Was God really calling me to excel in all of these areas? Excelling in just one of these virtues seemed impressive enough.

Once I stopped to consider the verse, however, another thought dawned on me. In each and every one of us, there will always be room for growth. God is simply reminding us not to get too comfortable in our walk of faith. We ought to keep growing, continue pushing forward, and never stop endeavoring to be more like Christ in everything we do.
