Envision a positive future

Envision a bright, shining, positive future. Then let that bright future pull you toward it through your attitude and your efforts.

Your future is not an automatic extrapolation of the present. It is built from whatever you choose to create.

It’s easy to claim the world is in a mess and to give up on making things any better. Yet the future has not happened yet, and positive energy you exert in the present directly influences the way your future unfolds.

Envision a positive future, then live each present moment with that vision as your guide. Put the power of your intention to work by giving it a solid, desirable, consistent direction.

Setbacks, challenges, and disappointments are sure to come. Each time they do, recommit yourself to your positive vision, and emerge stronger than ever.

Envision a positive future. And enjoy living your life to make that future real.

Claiming credit

When you’re mistaken, admit it. When you’re correct, let go of any urge to announce how right you are.

Even if what you’re bragging about is true, it’s still bragging. And humble bragging is worse because it is so carefully contrived.

Bragging hurts, and the person it hurts is you. It diminishes you in the eyes of others, and even more significantly, in your own view.

When you brag, you send yourself a negative message. You tell yourself your insights and achievements must be propped up, that they’re not good enough to stand on their own merit.

Do good, useful, productive, enriching things not just to look good. Do them for their own sake, because they are good.

Put your energy into what you’re doing, not into claiming credit for what you’re doing. And you’ll be able to achieve a whole lot more.

Away from doubt

From the very first effort, action begins to replace doubt and fear with courage and confidence. You move from worried and dubious to enthusiastic and effective.

The longer you keep going, the stronger your momentum becomes. Soon you’ll realize you’ve left your doubts far behind.

As overwhelming as doubts may feel, they soon wither under the heat of focused action. As shaky as your confidence seems at the start, it quickly grows stronger and begins to feed upon itself.

It’s understandable you’d be nervous about taking the first step. Yet when you bring yourself to do it anyway, that’s a game changer.

Even a small action will start the momentum. From it you gain the courage, the energy, the passion to keep going.

Go ahead, and take one small yet meaningful action to begin moving away from doubt. Keep going, feel the expanding power of your own intention, and your doubts will soon be left behind.

Make a beautiful moment

Allow, appreciate, accept all that is, as it is, and make a beautiful moment. Let beauty touch you, let joy flow generously from you, and be in this beautiful moment.

Expect the highest and best you can imagine, and work to make it so. But don’t let judgment cloud the value that is already yours to live.

Know that every moment is a beautiful moment. Open yourself, humble yourself, allow yourself to embrace the beauty in whatever form it takes.

What has come before is now a memory, and what will come next is not yet real. This is the time to live, to act, to be thankful, to enjoy, in this beautiful moment.

Let the wonder that’s found in every corner of life amaze you. Let the love, the possibilities, the unique substance in your own life inspire you.

Right here and now, with all that’s going on, make a beautiful moment in your life. Then move forward with the peace, the purpose, the joy and strength to make a whole lot more.

Conduit for goodness

Do something ordinary and remind yourself how extraordinary it is that you are alive and able to do it. Sweep out your garage, wind the clock, water the garden.

Take a quiet walk in the woods or any other place where you can observe life happening. Use the experience to reconnect with what is real, with what is true, with what matters.

Offer a few sincere words of encouragement to the next person you encounter. Fill your heart with simple kindness, and feel how good and right it is.

Imagine that joy is flowing out from you into all that surrounds you. Imagine that even though no one knows where the joy is coming from, they all feel its healing glow.

Open yourself to be a conduit for goodness. And notice how many more positive possibilities you encounter.

Life is worth all the thought, effort and caring you put into making it better. A brighter world is yours to create right now.

Appreciate where you have been

Learn what the trouble has to teach, and it is trouble no more. Grow to be the person who can deal with the problem, and it is no longer a problem.

By making a mistake you empower yourself to never make it again. As morning always follows night, the light of wisdom emerges as a matter of course from pain.

If you had never known darkness, you could not fully appreciate the wonder, the miracle, the power of light. From every experience you grow stronger.

Now, take that strength you’ve earned and point it toward what you love. Today, life is yours and possibilities abound, so make it all count.

Live joy so completely that it seems it will never end. Endure pain boldly, knowing you’ll soon be looking back on it from a stronger, higher perspective.

Whatever happened yesterday, today is your opportunity to do better, to live smarter, to exercise new power and create new value. Appreciate where you have been, and move solidly now in the direction you seek to go.

Make good use

Your muscles quickly weaken if they are not exercised. So do your hopes, your dreams, your values, intentions, possibilities.

You are blessed with knowledge, abilities, resources, connections, experience and unique purpose. Continue to put all that to good use, or the strength and resources you have will soon begin to wither.

Gratitude enables new abundance to stream into your life. The highest, most powerful form of gratitude is making good use of what you have.

Make good use, and your strengths grow stronger, your resources gain value. Make good use, and you can even transform shortcomings into advantages.

Value that is hoarded, hidden away, forgotten, loses its value. Value that is put to use, gives birth to new value.

Make good use of the good things in life. And you’ll make them even better.

— Ralph Marston

Reflected back

Would you like to see yourself at your best? Then observe yourself as you’re offering kindness to another.

Would you like to more fully enjoy all the good things you have? Find that enjoyment by generously sharing those good things.

Would you like to feel that your life really matters? Then feel yourself making a difference in the lives of those around you.

If you wish to learn, then seek to teach. If you’d like to be heard and understood, listen attentively so as to understand who you’re speaking to before you speak.

Be respectful and you’ll be respected. Love genuinely and you’ll be genuinely loved.

What you give, what you offer, the flavor of your disposition, is all reflected back to you in every experience. Make your life very good by being very good to all of life.

Energized by the challenges

When everything seems to be going wrong, remember this. Your problems do not define you, and your circumstances do not control you.

Yes, the situation is serious. And yes, you can rise above it.

You can choose a positive intention, and you can choose to act on it. You can rid your mind of doubt, of fear, and do your work with courage and commitment.

The negativity of the moment intimidates you only if you let it. Remind yourself always, you don’t have to let it.

Focus instead on whatever you can do to make a positive difference. Start small, achieve a minor victory, and keep going, keep building on it.

It can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the problems, yet you always have another choice. Decide instead to be energized by the challenges, and activate your ability to transform that energy into achievement.

Choose your thoughts

What are you saying to yourself with your thoughts? Does your self talk keep you stuck where you are, or does it push you forward?

You can choose each of the thousands of thoughts passing through your mind every day. You can choose thoughts to encourage, inspire, enable and energize yourself.

Every moment you have the opportunity to say something beneficial to yourself with your own thoughts. Whatever the situation, you can make use of that opportunity.

Moment by moment, what you do and the way you do it flow directly from what you think. Positive, empowering thoughts lead to effective actions and valuable results.

What you think does not have to be an impulsive reaction. Instead, make it an intentional choice.

Your thoughts have great power. Remember always that you have the ability to decide what they will be.

Action now

You have life, and you have this day. Realize the massive extent of your opportunity, and jump into positive action now.

You have awareness, creativity, skill, knowledge, passion and purpose. Put it all into action, and transform the fleeting moments into lasting treasure.

You’re much better than any flimsy excuses that might threaten to hold you back. You’re highly determined, able to slough off distractions and get great work done.

Take action, and in just a few minutes you’ll have momentum on your side. Keep it up, and by the end of the day you’ll have new achievements to show for your effort.

Sure, the challenges are real and difficult. Even so, you have much more going for you than against you.

Offer yourself and the whole world a great big smile for all the positive possibilities. And make those possibilities real by giving them your energy and action, now.

Knowledge earned through experience

You cannot change the past but you can learn from it. What went well, what went wrong, what would you do different next time?

Don’t obsess over the past, don’t expect to get it back, don’t expect to receive a do-over. But don’t ignore it either.

The value of experience is in what you’re able to learn. From massive success, from heartbreaking failure, from everything in between, there’s a lot of great, useful information.

You won’t come across the same exact situation again. Yet you will face very similar challenges.

Knowing what works and what doesn’t work, enables you to move successfully through those challenges. Knowing you’ve done it before, regardless of the prior outcome, is a confidence booster with no equal.

Look back occasionally, realize and pay attention to what you’ve learned. Apply the knowledge you’ve earned through experience, and be more effective than ever before.

— Ralph Marston

Get past yourself

If you feel stuck, you’re probably too focused on yourself. Step back, let go, widen your awareness.

From a self-centered perspective, your problems can seem so massive as to be overwhelming. Expand your perspective, and the problems begin to look more like opportunities.

Surrounding you is a whole universe of possibilities, energy, resources, goodness and beauty. Turn your attention outward and vastly expand your options.

When you make everything about you, that limits you and keeps you frozen in place. It drains your energy and creates unnecessary conflict.

Choose instead to mentally step a little bit beyond yourself, beyond your own concerns. Discover how energizing and liberating it can be.

One of the most powerful things you can do for yourself is to get past your concerns about yourself. Let go, focus your awareness on all of life, and replace those limited concerns with grand achievements.

— Ralph Marston

You can do more

You can do more. Today is when.

Sure you’re busy. No, you’re not greedy.

Yet you can improve. If you’re not improving, you’re declining.

Use this day to improve, to get better. It’s not a greediness thing, it’s a generosity thing.

Life benefits from what you’re able to give. So enable yourself to give more, to be better at what you do.

Whatever it may be, improve what you do, a little bit each day. It’s in your best interest, and in the best interest of all life.

— Ralph Marston

Above the frenzy

Take a deep, slow, relaxing breath. Doesn’t that feel better?

You have much important work to do. But rushing, obsessive anxiety doesn’t add any value to that work.

If you’re always having to hurry, hurry, hurry, you’re not being very effective. Think of what a more peaceful, deliberate approach would look like.

Constantly checking for messages doesn’t make you look impressive or important. It actually makes you look a little desperate.

Sure, you want to grab opportunity the moment you see it, and deal with challenges as they arise. But that doesn’t mean you have to always live in a frenzy.

Have confidence in your purpose, in what you’re doing, and in your ability to get it done. Let that confidence power you forward, above the frenzy, in calm, peaceful, thoughtful and effective effort.
