‘Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.’

Often do I feel weighed down with what I see ‘on my plate’ for a day, or a week? Often it takes me more effort to get on to a job, and thus all takes more time.

When the burden is very heavy I do come to realize that I am not on my own in any task. God is there, within me, surrounding me, but often I am too blind and too deaf to see or hear.

A friend gave me a very helpful little prayer for these times: ‘Lord, let nothing happen to me today that you and I together cannot handle’. I have found that prayer brings me to my senses. I discover that with God’s help, the task becomes lighter. Jesus has been trying to tell me all along: ‘My yoke is easy and my burden is light’.
