C is for the 3 Cs. I didn't cause it, I can't control it, and I can't cure it. Control is an illusion. If you have to control it, it is already out of control.

D is for Detachment. We detach because we do love them. That doesn't mean we have to remove ourselves physically, although it helps. It is a mental tool to help us live in today.

E is for Each new day is a new beginning. Each day brings us hope for tomorrow. Each day, for this 24 hours, I don't have to use. I am given freedom of choice.

J is for Jump. Jump up for all the gifts in recovery when you apply the 12 Steps to your life. Jump up, be grateful for the 12 Step Programs. Jump up for a second chance at life.

K is for Keep. Keep going to meetings. As the song says, "Keep your hand on the throttle. We need to hang on for the ride and allow our God to guide us.

L is for Love. Know that you are loved.

M is for More. More people, more relationships with others, more time with my God, and more Step work with my sponsor. I can change the word and give it new mean.

N is for Not

Not my will but God's will. 3rd step prayer:

God, I offer myself to you--to build with me and to do with me as you will. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do your will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of your power, your love, and your way of life. May I do your will always! Amen.

My favourite prayer, say it many times. I always follow it up with the 7th Step prayer to help me get out of the way and let my God work through me instead of having to walk through me.

O is for Open your heart and mind to what your God has to say to you in today.

Seventh Step Prayer.

When ready, we say something like this: "My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad. I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows. Grant me strength, as I go out from here, to do your bidding, Amen."

P is for Prayer

Yes! The 3rd Step Prayer and the 7th Step Prayer listed above are wonderful prayers.

Without the help of God (my Higher Power) I would not be sober today. Prayer keep us connected to this Power that can do for us what we cannot do for ourselves.

Q is for Quell. Quell the noisy and chaos going on inside of you. Find some peace and quiet so you can hear your God's Plan for you. Build a relationship with your HP. Take Him by the Hand and let Him guide you.

R is for Read. Read the literature for help in recognize ourself, put ourselves back together, and guide us in our recovery's daily walk.

S is for Serenity. Have it if you can. For me that means quieting my internal chatter. Being at peace with were I am at. Living in the moment, connected to the God of my understanding.

T is for Today. All I have is today. Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow never comes. I get up in the morning and say the Serenity Prayer and ask my God to lead and guide me each day. I can't take Him for granted. I need that daily contact.

W is for Wonderful. What a wonderful life I have since I found recovery. I am so grateful for a second chance at life. I am not saying everything is rosy, but i have the tools to deal with things as they come.

X is for 'Xample. Lead by example. Do people look at you and want what you've got. Are you an 'Xample of what recovery is about?

Y is for Yellow. Yellow is a caution sign. Don't be complacent or allow your sobriety slip from your mind and you find it unimportant.

Recovery is a daily thing. We have daily reprieve one day at a time.
